Socrates the Slime Mold

First Appearance: Surreptitious Machinations (Prologue: Rhymes and Ruminations) (November 16, 2001)

Another future mystery is Socrates the sentient slime mold. Since sentient slime molds are such a rarity (we've got the only two, right?), it was a safe assumption that he was somehow descended from either Fred or Persephone or perhaps both. We know he was a very loyal assistant to the future Prof. Wisebottom and was involved in the resistance against Empress Trudy. Unfortunately, Socrates was executed by the Empress herself, blasted into splattered gobs of sizzling goo.

However, surprising new evidence has come to light. In the aftermath after Trent's lawsuit against Fred, Fred received a mysterious phone call from none other than Socrates himself. This completely redefines what we thought we knew about Socrates, and perhaps about all the slime molds. Only time will tell what his new role may be in this time line.

Socrates is an orange slime mold, in the form of Fred & Persephone. We don't know who spawned Socrates, but there are a couple theories: One is that he's the child of either Fred or Persephone, or both. The other is that the same cesspool that spawned Fred also spawned another slime mold.
