| Welcome to the fourth anniversary edition of GPF Conspiracy Central. This is Alex Sedgewikki, filling in for Dexter Smith. Dexter has taken the month off to celebrate by way of his computer indulgences. |
| Dexter Smith and the Great Skaboola |
The focus of this month’s conspiracy is none other than Dexter Smith himself. He was introduced as a Code-A-Holics Anonymous attendee; living in a fantasy world based on movies and poorly crafted sci-fi novels. Through the years, he has warmed himself up to fans, showing that deep beneath his puckish exterior lies a heart of gold. Unfortunately, his seemingly well-intentioned mannerisms are only a ploy to fool the cast of GPF and its fans everywhere. Dexter Smith is, in fact, either controlled by the Great Skaboola or is the Great Skaboola himself. The first piece of evidence suggesting this connection is Dexter’s first appearance in the strip. Only one month after the “Code-A-Holics” storyline, aliens under the Great Skaboola’s rule abducted Fooker. It appears that the Great Skaboola was searching for appropriate test subjects among a group of geek troublemakers. The second piece of evidence occurred during the “Special Delivery” storyline. Up to this point, fans of GPF saw Dexter as an annoyance with fairly low common sense, as illustrated by the “gifts” he arranged for Ki after their first date. His ingenuity in devising a way to save Nick from the floodwaters was a surprising turn of events. An intellect of that caliber does not fit Dexter’s character. Clearly, a higher intelligence was in control. The third and final piece of evidence was presented during the infamous “Battle of New York.” Dexter squared off against Mr. Inertia, a man Agent #18 described as the “biggest, strongest man alive.” Keeping this fact in mind, how is it possible for an overweight computer programmer to defeat such a man? Further, Dexter showed no sign of physical exercise that would prepare him for this type of battle. The strength and tactical knowledge was not at Dexter’s disposal prior, and thus came from another source. Once again, the evidence points to the Great Skaboola. I leave the evidence in your capable hands to make your own determination. However, the ultimate conclusion is clear – Dexter Smith is either controlled by the Great Skaboola during key moments or is the Great Skaboola himself. |
